Celtic A's Team Win First Game in DBU!
Celtic started the first half of the DBU campaign with our B side who, despite a valiant effort, left us with only 8 points from our opening 12 games whilst the A's finished their title charge in DAI. However, Saturday marked the historic change away from DAI for the first team who embarked on a campaign to drag Celtic out of the bottom three in Series 4. The match was against SPORTING 48 of whom our B's have played twice already this year and lost.
Celtic went behind early from a well worked goal from Sporting's number 10 who was their best player all afternoon. However, the lead was short lived after some good work from the right hand side saw the ball fall to our bald talisman Calum Brennan who netted into the top corner with a difficult and impressive finish, under pressure inside the box. The Bald poacher netted again not long after with a powerful header to make it 2-1.
Honourary Irishman Sean Coogan popped up on the left hand side, bullying his opponent and slotting the ball into the net with a cultured finish to make it 3-1. Touching scenes with the celebration running straight to Coogan senior for a hug. It had clearly been a while since Coogan Senior had seen him score.
Sporting pulled one back through a bizzare chested goal but it wasn't long before new signing Aaron put the game to bed through a lung busting run and a one/two off the keeper to find the net.
Great start to the campaign for the A's winning on a hot day, having played almost no football since 2021.
Man of the Match: Calum Brennan
